500 ## - GENERAL NOTE |
General note |
The discs include the following episodes:

[Season 1 Volume 1]
- Episode 1 (60 min): "The Sopranos"
After a series of anxiety attacks, Tony Soprano makes his first visit to a psychiatrist, Dr. Jennifer Melfi. His aging mother Livia refuses to enter a retirement home. His Uncle Junior wants to whack Little Pussy in Tony's favorite Italian restaurant. And then there are the ducks in his swimming pool...

- Episode 2 (60 min): "46 Long"
Christopher is hijacking trucks "protected" by Uncle Junior. This doesn't help Tony's relationship with his uncle, and neither does Tony's solution to the restaurant problem. Livia sets fire to her kitchen and runs over her best friend with a Buick. Jackie Aprile, acting boss of the family, has been diagnosed with cancer.

- Episode 3 (60 min): "Denial, Anger, Acceptance"
Things with Tony and Uncle Junior are coming to a head and Junior's being urged to take action. Meadow tries to score some crystal-meth from Christopher so she can stay up all night studying. Meanwhile Carmela is hosting a charity dinner at home, but that still leaves Tony enough time to visit his Russian girlfriend... almost.

[Season 1 Volume 2]
- Episode 4 (60 min): "Meadowlands"
Tony finds himself having an affair with Dr. Melfi in his dreams, so he has her followed by a cop on the take. Christopher is recovering from a lesson taught by Uncle Junior, but just when it looks like war is about to break out in the family, Tony comes up with a solution that brings honor to all and a kind of peace... for now.

- Episode 5 (60 min): "College"
Tony is taking his daughter, Meadow, on a tour of colleges in Maine when he stumbles across an old associate in the witness protection program, Fabian "Febby" Petrulio. Tony isn't one to forget an old friend, if he can only find the time away from Meadow to pay him a visit.

- Episode 6 (60 min): "Pax Soprana"
To smooth things out in the family, Uncle Junior has been made boss of New Jersey with Tony's support. Meanwhile Tony is still running things behind the scenes, but Uncle Junior isn't making it easy for him. And Tony's troubles are just beginning now that the F.B.I is watching.

- Episode 7 (60 min): "Down Neck"
Anthony Jr. is suspended from school, and Tony and Carmela are warned that he may have Attention Deficit Disorder. Tony is reminded of his own childhood and how he discovered his father was in the mob. Made to visit his grandmother in the rest home, Anthony Jr. lets slip a family secret that Livia will have a hard time keeping.

[Season 1 Volume 3]
- Episode 8 (60 min): "The Legend of Tennessee Moltisanti"
The word is out that the Feds are getting ready to move in, so it's time to clean house in the Soprano family. Christopher, not yet a made man, is deep in depression that with all the talk of impending indictments the press has passed him over. And Dr. Melfi is cornered by her own family about the mafioso she's taken on as a patient.

- Episode 9 (60 min): "Boca"
The coincidence of Federal indictments and revelations about Tony is too much for Uncle Junior, who heads down to Boca Raton for a break with his best girl Roberta. Meadow's soccer coach, a genius when it comes to teaching the right moves, is not so clever when it comes to making them.

- Episode 10 (60 min): "A hit is a hit"
Christopher and Adriana have a befriended gangster rapper Massive Genius, and everybody wants something. Adriana wants to launch her career as a music executive; Christopher wants a piece of the action; and Massive wants a piece of Adriana. Tony tries to socialize with "regular folk" like his next-door neighbor Dr. Cusamano.

- Episode 11 (60 min): "Nobody knows anything"
Vin Makazian, Tony's cop on the take, has some bad news. Someone is wearing a wire. Vin thinks it's Big Pussy, a possibility which breaks Tony's heart. If it's true, Pussy will have to be put down. Meanwhile, Livia is letting Junior in on a few more family secrets, and for Junior, it's time to take a stand.

[Season 1 Volume 4]
- Episode 12 (60 min): "Isabella"
Tony has hit rock bottom. Overwhelmed by depression, he stays in bed, only rising to drop some more anti-depressants before falling back into bed again... until the arrival next door of a beautiful Italian exchange student. It's enough to get him out of bed -- but there's nothing like an attempt on his life to really get the adrenaline going.

- Episode 13 (60 min): "I Dream of Jeannie Cusamano"
It's become clear who's really been wired by the Feds. The next steps are inevitable. Less certain is how Tony will react once he's played a tape outlining who was behind the attempt on his life. Dr. Melfi has a theory that Tony can only fight against for so long. Something has to give -- and Tony's in a very giving mood.

Special features include:
- Interview with David Chase by Peter Bogdanovich
- Behind the scenes
|
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. |
Summary, etc |
From case cover:
Meet Tony Soprano: your average, middle-aged businessman. Tony's got a dutiful wife. A not-so-dutiful daughter. A son named Anthony Jr. A mother he's trying to coax into a retirement home. A hot-headed uncle. A not-too secret mistress. And a shrink to tell all his secrets, except the one she already knows: Tony's a mob boss.
These days, it's getting tougher and tougher to make a killing in the killing business. Just because you're "made"... doesn't mean you've got it made. |
