Carlo sognava di diventare uno scrittore famoso ed è finito a lavorare in una finanziaria. La moglie Giulia avrebbe voluto fare l’attrice, ma ha preferito la più sicura professione dell’insegnante. Le giovanili aspirazioni vengono risvegliate dalle velleità artistiche della figlia Valentina, disposta a tutto pur di diventare una velina. Completa il quadro di famiglia il diciannovenne Paolo, alle prese con gli esami di maturità e le primee delusioni sentimentali. Giulia torna a recitare in un piccolo teatro off, Carlo riprende il suo incompiuto romanzo e ritrova una sua vecchia fiamma, rimettendosi in gioco anche sentimentalmente.
