En un pueblecito cercano a Barcelona, varias familias amigas deciden seguir en sus casas de veraneo hasta terminé la guerra. Para los niños se convertirán de esta forma, en unas largas e inesperadas vacaciones. Entre los mayores las actitudes serán diversas según se recrudece el conflicto. Hay quienes viajan cada día a la ciudad para mantener su trabajo y hay quienes se instalan para permanecer escondidos en el pueblo debido a su ideología.
