Esmeralda Comes by Night is a whimsical tale that depicts the life of Esmeralda, a nurse who is happily married to... five husbands! As Esmeralda is about to marry husband number six, she is charged with bigamy. It is during her interrogation and detention that Esmeralda's spellbinding charm is revealed- the chief inspector falls for her, her other husbands conspire to break her out of jail and feminists demonstrate in her defense . Literally everyone in the courtroom falls victim to her feminine wiles. Even husband number five, who first brought charges against Esmeralda, has a change of heart and tries to withdraw his complaint. Highly entertaining, this spirited satire is full of old-world chamr and modern-day romance.
