Obra cumbre de Luis Buñuel - declarada recientemente "Memoria del Mundo" por la UNESCO - sobre la vida marginal de un grupo de niños en las ciudades perdidas y los barrios pobres de la ciudad de Mexico. Después de escapar de la correccional el joven "Jaibo" se reúne con su pandilla de niños marginados para organizar varios atracos. Más tarde, Pedro recoge al "Ojitos", un niño campesino abandonado. Sus destinos se unen trágicamente, cuando el "Jaibo" en presencia de Pedro, mata al muchacho que supuestamente lo delató.
