In this novel, which has not been published in Cuba to date, Gutierrez exposed to an international audience life in Cuba during the so called "Special Period", a critical time for Cubans following the fall of the Berlin Wall. The film Dirty Real Havan explores Gutierrez' work by presenting, in performance, segments of his most recognized narrative and recent writing. Additionally, the writer's persona reveals itself in interviews, which trace Gutierrez's vision on literature, sex, and Cuba, in the context of Twenty-First century cultural debates. | ||
