Summary, etc |

|
Expansion of summary note |
In the 62nd year of his life, Arthur Schnitzler, the important Viennese playwright and storyteller, wrote the story of a young girl who has to sacrifice her virtue in order to save her father from financial and social ruin. He tells this in an unusual way: as a monologue. The girl reports to herself, speaking inwardly, what is happening to her, what comes to her, what she is feeling and considering in her most secret ways. Step by step, decision by decision, as if in a kind of trance she saw herself, her environment, her end. The story is called: Miss Else |
